IAMAW – Kevin Timms Appointed IAM Canadian Special Representative

IAM International President Brian Bryant has appointed Kevin Timms, a 15-year IAM Local 1681 member from Calgary, as a Canadian Special Representative. The appointment is effective on May 20, 2024.

Timms, who most recently served as an IAM District 140 General Chair in Alberta, will help lead organizing efforts in Canada. He was recognized as the Canadian Territory’s top organizer of the year in 2022.

“Kevin is committed to growing our organization and enhancing the lives of our current and future members,” said IAM International President Brian Bryant.

Timms’ journey with the IAM began as a shop steward, where he earned the trust and respect of his fellow members. Shortly after being elected in the shop committee office, he held the positions of shop committee chair before being elected as District 140 General Chair and helping to guide Canadian airline members through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Timms has chaired many arbitrations and negotiated collective agreements with multiple companies in which IAM members have seen significant gains.

“We are extremely happy to welcome Kevin to our team as the Canadian Territory grows our membership and offers added service in new regions,” said IAM Canadian General Vice President David Chartrand.
