On February 16, a meeting was held in Toronto to discuss the ramifications of the CIRB decisions to allow the split of the Technical Operations bargaining certification and the rejection of the IAMAW’s application for a Common Employer declaration with Air Canada and Aveos.

Transportation District 140, along with Heavy Maintenance Tech Ops Shop Committee Representatives and Senior Stewards, attended a meeting in Montréal with the Aveos Senior Management on February 2, 2011 to discuss layoff mitigation initiatives as a result of the anticipated job losses announced by Aveos Management due to the Air Canada 2011 Aircraft Heavy Maintenance Schedule.
By now you are all aware that the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) has issued their decisions regarding the Air Canada and Aveos’ application to split the Collective Bargaining certification and the IAMAW’s Section 35 Common Employer application.
