The following is to invite you to a meeting during which the tentative agreement reached with the employer will be presented to you and on which you will be asked to vote upon.


Please take note that a tentative agreement was reached yesterday with the Company.


Executive Board Elections will be held at our upcoming DL140 Convention October 26 and 27, 2010.


Your committee of General Chairpersons met with the company in Montreal July 6,7,8, to further discuss and attempt to resolve, some of the more than seventy (70) outstanding issues and questions that have been raised by us and our membership, regarding the selection process when and if transition occurs.


On Friday, June 25, 2010 Air Canada and Aveos filed a joint application to the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) for a declaration that the two companies are distinct employers under Distinct Bargaining Certificates and separate Collective Agreements.


During the last Transportation District Lodge Convention, a motion was put forward and approved by the delegates to the Convention, that the District 140 Executive Board develop a “terms of reference” for the District 140 National EAP Coordinator position to reflect:

The Transportation District 140 Offices will be closed July 1, 2010 to celebrate Canada Day.


Please be advised that the tentative agreement was rejected.


In March of 2009 an agreement was reached before Arbitrator Martin Teplitsky that neither Air Canada nor Aveos would file an application at the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) seeking to split the bargaining unit until either all parties agreed or a further meeting had been held before Arbitrator Teplitsky.

By now most of you should be aware that the Canadian Flight Attendants Union (CFAU) representing Flight Attendants at Jazz Air have voted 99.5% in favour of strike action.
